Americana Is Facing Closure! We Need Your Help.

Updated: Jan 13

For over 30 years, Americana has been a pillar of hope and empowerment for refugee, immigrant, and underserved families in Louisville. Through education, youth and family development, mental health support, crisis case management, a women’s fiber arts program, and community gardens, we provide holistic services that help families not just survive—but thrive. Each year, we serve more than 5,000 people from over 100 countries in their pursuits of better days and brighter futures.

As a staple of stability in Louisville, each year Americana:

  • Is an official Point of Distribution (POD) for National Health & Safety Emergencies

  • Hosts the largest adult English Language Learning (ELL) program in Jefferson County, preparing over 1,500 newcomers to join the workforce

  • Provides academic and enrichment opportunities for 125 at-risk youth

  • Provides 16,000 meals to youth facing food insecurity

  • Distributes $19,000 in emergency financial support for housing and utility assistance

  • Distributes over 35,000 diapers through our Diaper Bank, saving parents $8,750

  • Host and house an ecosystem of 7 other nonprofit organizations, including Family Health Center Americana

Right now, our critical work is under attack. Due to downstream effects of several federal policy changes, we are facing an urgent financial crisis. Our programs are 100% reliant on grants, donations, and sponsorships.

WITHOUT IMMEDIATE SUPPORT, WE MAY BE FORCED TO CLOSE OUR DOORS WITHIN TWO MONTHS.

We refuse to let that happen, but we can’t do this alone.

We need to raise $520,000 in order to sustain operations through the end of June. We are working through multiple strategies to adapt to this changing landscape and we are confident that our sustainability plans can prevent a permanent closure.

Help us raise the 1st $150,000 by March 31st to keep our doors open.

Ways You Can Help:

  • Donate to Americana's S.O.S. Campaign today.

  • Attend the International Women's Day Breakfast Briefing on Saturday, March 8th

  • Join us in recruiting 2,000 supporters in our #50from5 challenge and help us raise $100,000 this month

  • Host a fundraiser on our behalf

  • Share our story with your networks and use the hashtag #SOSAmericana

  • Stand in solidarity with Americana and other non-profits supporting immigrants and refugees

We know our community is as caring and determined as we are. Together, we can ensure Americana continues to be a safe and welcoming place for newcomer families in Louisville.
